4/1/2017 - Rome Police Investigating RobberySOLVED

Rome police are investigating a strong armed robbery which occurred Friday, March 31st. on Black River Blvd. Shortly after 2:30 pm, an adult female had just exited a store located in the Black River Shopping Center on the 800 block of Black River Blvd. when an unknown male forcibly removed the victims purse from her arm and fled on foot. He was last seen running northbound. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male last seen wearing black pants, black jacket with a hood, and what appears to be a red colored scarf over his face and dark colored shoes. The victim was not injured during this incident. Rome police encourage anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the suspect in this incident to contact detectives at (315) 339-7715. 2/28/2017 - Utica, NY Homicide

 REWARD $5000 - UTICA HOMICIDE
The Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers is assisting Utica Police by offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Theodore “Ted” Talerico. Mr.Talerico was found shot to death on the 600 block of Kirkland St, Utica on the morning of Tuesday February 21, 2017. Anonymous tips can be placed at

1/16/2017 - Utica, NY - Home Invasion

***News Release-Crime Stoppers Reward***

On January 3, 2017 at approximately 8:15 PM the resident of 1020 Tilden Ave 2nd floor reported hearing someone knocking on the back door. When the resident opened the door an unknown male who was described as being approximately 5’9” with a large build wearing a ski mask forced his way into the residence. The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male. The resident was ultimately tied to a chair during this incident. While the resident was restrained in the chair the suspect stole a large amount of US currency, assorted jewelry and a tablet. The suspect then fled the residence through the front entrance of the building. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is requested to contact the Utica Police Department Criminal Investigation Division crime tip line at 315-223-3555. 11/29/2016 - $2,000 Reward Offered in Rome Assault CaseARRESTED

Rome police announce the arrest of three individuals in recent gang assault case. 



On Monday, Shortly after 1:00 am on November 28th., a male resident of Curtis Street was awoken after his vehicles alarm system activated. The male exited his residence to investigate and found three men were rummaging through his vehicle. The three suspects then attacked the male victim causing him numerous injuries during the assault. A second male then exited the victims residence to try to help the first victim and he too was attacked and physically assaulted. His numerous injuries were deemed serious. A knife was also displayed by a suspect during this incident.
Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers offered up to $2,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest in this case and they did receive numerous anonymous tips regarding this incident. That information helped lead to the identity of the three suspects and Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers will be paying out a reward in this case.  
Arrested and charged with Gang Assault in the 1st. degree, a class B felony and Assault in the 3rd. degree, a class A misdemeanor are:  20 year old Devlin K. White, who resides on Cortland Ave. in Rome and 19 year old Austin A. Winters, who resides on Henry St. in Rome.  White is also charged with Menacing in the 2nd. degree, a class A misdemeanor. A 15 year old male is also charged in this incident and police are not releasing his identity due to his age. The 15 year old juvenile has been turned over to the Rome Police Juvenile Aid Division. The Rome Police Detective Division, Patrol Division, Forensic Unit and Juvenile Aid Division conducted the investigation into this incident.

Rome Police are investigating an assault case and are seeking the publics assistance in identifying the suspects. The incident occurred on Curtis Street in Rome. Shortly after 1:00 am on November 28th., a male resident of Curtis Street was awoken after his vehicles alarm system activated. A second male then exited the victims residence to try to help the first victim and he too was attacked and physically assaulted. His numerous injuries are deemed serious. He is currently being treated in an out of town hospital. During the assault, one of the suspects did display a knife. The three suspects then fled the area on foot and were last seen running southbound on Madison Street towards West Court Street. The suspects are described as follows:

One black male, two Hispanic males. All three are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties. 9/26/2016 - Distraction Burglary, Rome, NY
Rome police are investigating a "distraction" burglary which occurred on September 19, 2016. This incident took place in the north section of the city when a senior citizen answered a knock at her door. An unknown male was at the door and he told the female victim that he owns a tree service and that he was interested in purchasing some small trees that are in the victims back yard. He then asked her to go out to her back yard with him, which she did do. The victim inadvertently left her front door unlocked when she exited the home. The suspect engaged her in conversation about trees for several minutes and at the same time, he was speaking into his cell phone, using the Spanish language. After several minutes, the victim asked for identification and the unknown male stated he would retrieve that from his vehicle. He then left the scene without providing the requested identification. Upon entering her residence, the victim discovered that someone had ransacked several rooms in her home and that she was missing valuables. The suspect in this case is described as a Hispanic male about 20-30 yeas of age. He had a beard that was very short and worn tight to the face. He was well dressed and was operating a black colored pickup truck. Rome Police are investigating the theft and use of a credit card. This incident occurred on July 15, 2016 while the victim was a patient at a Rome area nursing home. The unknown female shown in the photo used the stolen credit card to purchase items at an area grocery store. 5/29/2016 - $5000 Reward- Murder of Larry Edwards- Utica NY

On May 18, 2016, the Utica Police Department Is looking for any information regarding the murder of Larry Edwards. The City of Utica Police in conjunction with Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers  announced that there is a $5,000.00 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Larry Edwards. Edwards, a member of the homeless community in the City of Utica was killed by gunfire on May 7, 2016. Edwards was found deceased in a vehicle behind 301 Rutger St.

4/24/2016 - Burglary- Route 80 Bowl- Vanhornsville, NY
REWARD- Herkimer Burglary- The New York State Police in Herkimer is looking for information surrounding a burglary that occurred between the hours of 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM on 04/24/16 at the Route 80 Bowl 2217 State Route 80 in Vanhornsville. Alcohol was taken from behind the bar, change from the cash register and the ATM was pried open with the money box taken.
